Elizabeth Mills
Hello! My name is Elizabeth. I have always loved swimming and I am passionate to see children becoming confident in the water and having fun! I believe swimming is such an important life skill, and it’s great to see the joy on a parent’s face when their baby/child achieves something new.
I have been a swimming teacher for 22 years, teaching a wide range of different classes from babies to adults, non- swimmers to swimmers. I am a qualified Level 2 ASA Adult and Child Swimming Teacher and Level 2 ASA Swimming teacher. I have also gained the Pool Rescue qualification. When I am not teaching swimming, I work as a part time primary school teacher at a local primary school. I have been a teacher for over 15 years and I have two young children.
My mother first took my twin sister and I swimming when we were 18 months old, and when we were eight we joined Ferndown Otters Swimming Club. I swam competitively for over 10 years, competing for Dorset at inter county level. I was also a qualified lifeguard from the age of 18.
I now swim for Poole Swimming Club Masters and East Dorset Open Water Swimming Club, and I recently swam in the National Open Water Championships in Sheffield this Summer, achieving 11th place in England in my age group! I am currently training to swim the English Channel in a relay team in June 2019, and I am hoping to raise lots of money for Kidney Research UK.
